Without the hassle of driving, finding a hotel or a place to park

In 2008, we are going to visit Québec City during their 400th Anniversary to let you to enjoy this amazing Canadian city's unique ambiances. On our way, we have a brunch stop at Drummondville outside of Montreal. Upon arrival in Québec, we are greeted by one of Québec City's famous step-on guides who will guide our bus driver for a 1 3/4 hours tour around the historic city telling us all about the sights, sounds, what happened when and to whom. By the time we are finished you should be well acquainted with Québec and ready to check into the 4 Star Hotel Manoir Victoria which is located just inside the gates to the Old City.

It is time to relax and explore the old city on your own and choose a great restaurant for dinner. There are so many.

Think about walking along the boardwalk on top of Cape Diamond peering down to the St. Lawrence river  look west knowing the great river goes past Brockville and beyond.  Look east and it goes to the Atlantic Ocean and to Europe. Spend some time exploring and shopping at the boutiques, partaking of the many outdoor cafes, visiting historic sites, crafts shops, and the artists as they paint and draw images of the old City.

The next day, we do not depart until 2.30. This leaves time to have a leisurely breakfast and more time to explore Québec. You can visit to their famous Farmers' Market, check out a museum or two, stroll the streets and the eastern end of the Plains of Abraham to reflect on the famous battle between the French and English that changed North America in 1775.

On the way home we stop at the Old City in Montreal at about 4.30 pm. You have the opportunity to dine and be entertained at Cabaret du Roy an 18th century theme restaurant in the Old City. They will show us how New France was 300 years ago. To shiver, laugh, sing and feast along with a great team of musicians and historical characters guaranteed to get the New-France festive spirit to immerge from you.

If you chose not to partake of the Cabaret there is lots to see in do in the Old City. Street entertainers abound in Jacque Cartier Square, there are myriads of cafes that while you partake in some liquid refreshment and fine foods have outside tables where you can sit and people watch, want to look for some great gifts for yourself or some friend - there are all kinds of shops that have some very unique items not available anywhere but here.

As you stroll along the serpentine cobbles you can, stop at City Hall to admire its Second-Empire architecture, visit the archeological crypt under Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal's Museum of Archaeology and History, shop in the many boutiques for gifts for others and yourself, dance, sing, and watch the street performers on Place Jacques Cartier, have your caricature drawn by a street artist and visit the Marché Bonsecours, for its magnificent tin-plated dome, and for its world class designer boutiques. You can also find a great place to have some liquid refreshment and a meal for supper on one of many outdoor restaurants that overlook Place Jacques Cartier. .

From Old Montréal, all roads south lead to the Old Port and an up-close-and-spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River.

As you stand on the shores of this mighty waterway, you'll see why the fur trading post established here by a group of French settlers in 1611 grew to become North America's largest commercial hub.

Today, impressive harbour-front facilities include a 2.5-kilometre-long recreational park along the river with promenades for  just strolling about, a state-of-the-art Science Centre, with interactive exhibits, a group movie game and an IMAX® theatre, river cruises for romantic dinners, bouquinistes, vendors of rare books, and warm, friendly bars where you can relax over a drink of wine or a latté with a clear view of the action. If you are lucky you will be part of the voyagers who are in the harbour with a cruise ship who are exploring the Old Port and Old City just like you.

Cabaret du Roy

If we get enough people (20+) - A large number of tables have been reserved for this gastronomical experience. We rediscover old table customs of another period with a great team of musicians and historical characters designed to create the New-France festive atmosphere at the beginning of the eighteenth century. Nothing's been left out: huge candelabras hang from the ceiling, a fireplace is used to do some of the cooking right in the dining-room, antique furniture is all over the place, and the staff is all dressed up in ancient costumes. The entire setting is magnificent and will make you travel through time.
