Eastern
Ontario Rural Revolution
In Eastern Ontario there is a revolution being
carried on by rural residents against growing bureaucratic control of privately owned land.
On February 4, 2005 the "Stop the Destruction " convoy reached
Prescott Ontario.
Canada's busiest Highway 401 and the International Bridge
at Johnstown Ontario to the USA were closed for 3 hours by 270 vehicles and 50 tractors in show of the demonstration of rural dissatisfaction.
The people who make their living on their own
private properties were really angry at both the federal
and provincial governments. They demanded first and foremost
property rights
inserted in
the constitution.
Here are some of the images recorded by tdc's FarmGate.
